Nokia T20 review | The perfect content consumption Android tablet

I get it. Specs do not always tell the complete story when it comes to electronic devices and that is definitely true with the Nokia T20 tablet. The T20 comes with a processor I never heard of and toughened glass for the display. Does not spark any confidence whatsoever in the tablet but I am glad that I gave the T20 a shot. While not having mainstream specs the Nokia T20 is definitely worth a look.

Without diving too deep let's take a look at the Nokia T20.

The display is where all the action takes place. It gets pretty bright at 400 nits and features a 2k display. For a budget tablet, I find it to be more than adequate for me. Although not perfect as the screen has a very blue hue to it, however, that issue can be nearly corrected in settings by making the display a bit warmer. The one big drawback is that most content does not output to 2k or even 1080p with Netflix and Prime Video being the two video providers not supporting the higher resolution.

Battery life is awesome. I get more than a day with heavy use with the supplied 8200mah internal battery. Cameras are not good at all but at least the front-facing camera is in the right spot being centered and at the top portion of the tablet when sitting horizontally. The cameras will pass for personal interactions with family but I would steer clear of having any important meetings with the tablet. Mics are also pretty lackluster.

Speakers are also a bright spot for me. They are located on each horizontal side of the tablet. I like how clear they sound and get pretty loud while not distorting. The T20 definitely favors treble so don't expect any bass. I mean like none at all. The speakers are also pretty good for spoken content like podcasts but in my experience, I felt like I needed to turn up the volume a bit more.

Now the star of the show and why I think this is the perfect content consumption device, Google Entertainment Space. GES resides just a swipe right from the home screen and here is where you will find all of your content. Whether it's videos from Youtube or Games from the Play Store there is a ton to see. But that's not it. There is a section for your books from Play Books and then you have Listen as the last category. Here you can listen to YT Music or Spotify and even your audiobooks from Play Books.

GES is pretty new and I can see some areas where things can be improved. The Continue Watching area tends to get stuck with content I previously watched or no longer want to watch. Google, please give me the option to hide what's there. Another area of improvement is giving more videos the option to open in a window to see more details of the movie or show. Instead, most listing without the "I" indicator dives you right into the content. Sometimes I want more information before deciding to watch something. The last improvement I would like to see is a section for news where breaking news or top news from trusted sources can display their articles. I think this is a big opportunity and currently a miss.

The main takeaway with this tablet is that it's very basic but it gets the things most consumers want right while giving us users a headphone jack. But seriously, this is a really good tablet for consuming content. Video loads fast, music sounds good, the screen is vibrant and the price is right. If you are interested I definitely recommend it as a couch buddy.

Reviewing the Pixelbook Go after 5 yrs | Software that is outpacing the hardware

No doubt, the Pixelbook Go has served me well in my 5 yrs with the laptop. This is not necessarily a review of the features on the laptop but a review of the PBG hardware and its usability in 2025. I acknowledge that I am a part of a very small club of users that still have and use this device but I must say that I still enjoy using the PBG every single day. Now, to the review. Hardware Right off the bat. The hardware is probably the least compelling aspect of the PBG. When the laptop was first released in 2019 it was already a year or two behind the competition with the onboard soc. Surprisingly, this has not negatively impacted using the laptop with most tasks. Web surfing is a breeze and most Android apps run pretty effortlessly. The 8th Gen i5 Intel soc paired with 8GB of RAM is well optimized and I feel that Google is getting as much as it can out of the chip.  Where the PBG falls short is with video editing apps. I've tried several Android apps and a couple of Linux ap...

I attended a Pixel Superfans event at the new Google Store in Santa Monica, CA

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to attend a Pixel Superfans event at the new Google Store in Santa Monica. It was a soft launch of the store and a good way to meet like minded people. The staff were very nice and helpful. While I was at the store I was able to finally check out the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and wow that device is extremely impressive. Outside of that, I was able to look around the store and check out other Google products which there are quite a bit to see. I'm looking forward to my next visit to the new Google Store. Take a look at the pictures below including one of some swag I got from Google at the event.
